This July 4th, 10 Million Names is featured on ABC News in a groundbreaking story about the White House and the legacy of slavery.
10 Million Names is a collaborative effort dedicated to finding the names of the estimated 10 million men, women, and children who were enslaved in what is now the United States, from the 1500s to emancipation.
We are recovering and restoring those names to their families in the form of free, searchable databases. People researching their family history will now be able to look for enslaved ancestors online using this website.
